Cold winds...warm hearts!
On February 2nd we’ll be 40 days beyond Christmas. This is one of the oldest Feasts in the Church, both in the Western, Latin (or Roman Catholic) Church as well as in the Eastern (Greek) Christian Churches: The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. On this day our Lord Jesus was formally presented in the Temple and the Prophet Simeon announces: “
My eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel.
On this day, the Church traditionally has blessed all the candles that we will use for the entire year! So, don’t confuse today’s great Feast with that minor little rodent in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania who really cannot predict the weather anyway! Let’s put our trust in the Lord Jesus and I can predict that he will really hear your prayers!

It's not unusual for people who are not Catholic to attend our liturgies and social events with Catholic friends or family members for years without considering becoming Catholic themselves. Sometimes, all that is needed is a personal invitation! If you know anyone like this, please let them know that the first steps do not require any commitment other than the desire to learn more about our faith. Contact
for more information about the RCIA process.
