Parish eNews for the Busy Month of May!
We have entered into a new month,
and this season is filled with joy as we celebrate several events in our Parish. This weekend we honor some of our youngest parishioners who will be receiving Holy Communion for the first time. More than 60 children will be our First Communicants and this is a big deal for our community as we become witnesses of the great gift God has granted to these young people. On Wednesday, May 15, about 75 teenagers will gather at the Cathedral for the celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation. We will pray, along with Bishop Matano, for these teens so they may receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and become faithful and joyful disciples of Jesus Christ.
Another important event is coming soon.
Pay Attention Men!!!
On Saturday, May 18 (5:30-9:00 pm), we will have a special night with the men of our two parishes. We want to invite those of you who are husbands, fathers, friends, workers, students to have a profound and spiritual encounter with God. Jesus chose 12 men to be the first witnesses and promoters of his Resurrection. So we (men) have an important responsibility and call as Christians. We are called to deepen our faith and bring it to those God has entrusted to us. I’m talking about your family, I’m talking about your friends, your brothers, your co-workers. Think about the legacy you want to leave to your people, to your son, to your daughter. The most significant gift you can leave to them, your beloved ones, is your faith, a door open for Heaven, a relationship with Jesus. Please come, have fun, meet new fellows and most importantly, encounter Jesus in your life.
Let us keep the spirit of Easter vibrant in our lives, families and parish community. This month will bring great blessings and holy joy to our hearts, and as the Psalmist claims, “
Let us rejoice and be glad.”

The Regina Coeli (Queen of Heaven)
is traditionally prayed instead of ‘
‘ during Paschal Time (from Holy Saturday through the evening of the Saturday after Pentecost). It is traditionally prayed in the morning (6 am), at noon, and in the evening (6 pm). The Church traditionally honors Mary in May, so it is especially fitting to learn this devotion this month.
V. Queen of Heaven, rejoice. Alleluia.
R. For He whom thou wast worthy to bear. Alleluia.
V. Has risen, as He said. Alleluia.
R. Pray for us to God. Alleluia.
V. Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary. Alleluia.
R. For the Lord has truly risen. Alleluia.
Let us pray
O God, who by the resurrection of Thy Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, has been pleased to give joy to the whole world, grant, we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may attain the joys of eternal life. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.
